  • MoU signed between Ministry of Ayush and ICMR for integrative health research: A significant development took place in September 2023 when a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) was signed between the Ministry of Ayush and the Indian Council of Medical Research (ICMR) to promote and collaborate an integrative health research. This collaboration will focus on identified areas of national importance in healthcare for promoting high-impact research to generate evidence utilizing modern scientific methods. The MoU will also strengthen research capacity through training of Ayush researchers.

  • National Ayush Mission gets 50% increase in budget allocation: The Union Budget 2023-24 has given a major boost to the integration of Ayush systems in the National Health ecosystem. The National Ayush Mission has received a 50% increase in its budget allocation, reflecting the government’s  commitment(in)promoting these traditional forms of medicine. This increased funding will be used to strengthen Ayush healthcare services, improve infrastructure, and conduct research.

  • Three National Ayush Institutes of eminence inaugurated: In July 2023, Prime Minister Narendra Modi inaugurated three National Ayush Institutes of eminence in Ayurveda, Homoeopathy, and Unani.
